Darting young eyes smiled easily at me from a face worn and lined by the harsh African sun. The constant worry of where to get food for the children filled her mind as she trudged daily through the life sapped bush to her home in Kisumu in the eastern part of Kenya. She came to me one morning at the little mud church in Ikuthu claiming that she was possessed by an evil spirit." Fr.P.J.McCamphill from Dunloy in Co. Antrim tells the story. "She was very reluctant to come into the church, and asked if I could heal her. HEAL HER? Like a sudden cold wind I wondered about the strenght of my faith. Was it strong enough to invoke Christ's healing power for this poor woman?"               P.J. gathered the people around Kambua, and they all began to pray. Her face was a mixture of bewilderment and fear, but the support of all these people praying for her began to touch her heart. P.J.continues: "I felt so inadequate and helpless, but something inside encouraged me to lay my hands on her head. Knotted hair and sweated forehead reinforced my fears. I was trembling as I repeated the words of Jesus..."COME OUT OF HER"                      Clay ear plugs are traditional decoration of Summa women Kambua gave an unmerciful shriek, which scattered the people in all directions. With great drama she picked herself up, walked to the door of the church, and went inside. The people were so relieved at this sight that they followed her into the church clapping and dancing and singing with joy. She joined the community, was baptised and, to this day, is an active and faithful Christian.               "It is amazing that a very ordinary guy like me, born within sight of Slemish Mountain in Co.Antrim, could be in that particular tropical place at that special time for Kambua's encounter with Christ.
